The Hewlett Packard Education and Philanthropy Division awarded the School of Engineering a grant to impact the retention of underrepresented students through development of a Student Services Center and an engineering student services web site. The ESSC is intended to change the culture of the engineering student environment by promoting student knowledge management, utilization of resources to promote academic achievement, linkage to the engineering environment, academic and social integration, and result in improved student retention.
The ESSC provides the following resources for engineering students:
- Academic Support: Tutoring, Study Groups, Supplemental Instruction
- Information Access: Engineering Website; Program Brochures and Applications; Student Handbook; Graduate School, Internship, and Summer research experience information; Scholarship Applications
- Course Support: Graphing Calculators, Math Textbooks and Study Guides, Software Tutorials, Presentation Software
- Career, Professional and Leadership Development: Field Trips, Role Models, Workshops
- Student/Faculty Development: Workshops, Seminars, Mentoring
- Business Services: Faxing, Color Copying or Printing, Resume printing, Design Project Needs/Supplies, Team organization meeting space
- Equipment Loan: Digital Camera, LCD Projector, Graphing Calculators, Typewriter (for applications)
The ESSC is located in the Mitchell Engineering Building, Room 229.
